Footprints in the Sand

One night I had a dream
0 T0 Q: r: R, B" o6 R5 ~& gI was walking along the beach with my Lord.5 ^9 s) ?* r9 O/ f2 X1 m+ v
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.+ a: F; [; i) e- g+ v4 v: Z
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,8 v( [/ B/ D$ a6 ^: s/ Y7 U
one belonging to me& T! V+ E9 X0 E4 K) Y$ O% ^8 X
and the other to my Lord.
: Z9 l8 O" e) T- S6 AWhen the last scene of my life shot before me
: ~8 r9 J  e! f9 ^! ]/ ?6 A9 D6 YI looked back at the footprints in the sand.$ h0 D( |1 C7 j4 }+ C6 [
There was only on set of footprints.7 R% m+ d+ H0 w' M1 j1 i# [! w
I realized that this was at the lowest
0 B. W  F" w+ s. R9 w) x- hand saddest times in my life.  _% z' j" ~3 H' f' ]- ]. B( T
This always bothered me
; n( I% l6 T  xand I questioned the Lord: }; G' H  `* c: E7 ]8 A; T* x" g
about my dilemma.* h, S/ k6 j* f) |7 a
"Lord, you told me when I decided to follow You,! x4 v8 _' C2 e; _  S' ?
You would walk and talk with me all the way.
. F/ M) x0 r7 F$ v6 |  t: Z  SBut I'm aware that during the most troublesome ! V5 z# C) L  Q$ v, q8 n  ]
times of my life there is only one set of footprints.0 D! M: Q6 T0 E) X' ~( C
I don't understand why, when I needed You most, . j( ^, \! s3 p3 k  E# ?* l1 R
you leave me."
& ?" u! B( e5 W/ u" tHe whispered,  "My precious, precious child,
) q8 J$ q  w- A, U9 ~( xI love you and will never leave you# l! b( g" J' j0 P) \& N  |1 }5 U
never, ever during your times of trial and testings.7 d9 b2 f; a' ?
When you saw only one set of footprints
) K' W' D5 E8 i2 R" M# B1 D, f$ JIt was then that I carried you."  ?6 a* s* i6 X& z
