Footprints in the Sand

One night I had a dream4 ]( g5 i# _/ V4 W" _
I was walking along the beach with my Lord.( r; t+ @9 Y: z& L/ }
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life./ w5 S0 J! e8 I7 b! i1 G$ u
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
4 E4 j+ l9 `. o4 xone belonging to me
/ Z/ M( \. {* A0 ^6 x0 O& _and the other to my Lord.
( ?, h2 C# T7 i, b) \When the last scene of my life shot before me
9 l. Q. K! t8 B! g& c/ C2 @" U- ^I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
5 C4 }* f! }% s0 sThere was only on set of footprints.
/ o4 O; ^2 i( N6 V  d+ L! j1 h; n/ L- kI realized that this was at the lowest
$ v$ P, o. `# kand saddest times in my life.
, n' R7 @8 o- @% ^7 X1 j4 B5 xThis always bothered me
  c: ~- ^% q% a  tand I questioned the Lord; T2 A1 O0 {! N" K# K
about my dilemma.. V' H& J7 j0 q4 K
"Lord, you told me when I decided to follow You,
  |  Y' O& g: s* x7 r% zYou would walk and talk with me all the way.5 [8 A( n1 ~5 W% j2 Z
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome
: A/ Y% l2 l6 R$ o1 Ltimes of my life there is only one set of footprints.
7 ^3 X1 s/ p" u5 n: wI don't understand why, when I needed You most,
. u& `' b) I( x! |! cyou leave me."0 h2 l2 B3 |# m- _2 ~2 a: F
He whispered,  "My precious, precious child,6 Q0 P! S+ i0 v+ R  A2 N
I love you and will never leave you: o/ m7 S# R8 k3 z
never, ever during your times of trial and testings.
. J- A1 n9 f9 d( nWhen you saw only one set of footprints( E4 q5 {; j6 e: @+ t
It was then that I carried you."& c7 ^9 v. t- k. p  v3 m
