Lord, & g9 O8 W* E# j5 @
having transformed- o6 l2 d/ {1 T' S
sunshine and soil and water and seed,9 J, k$ Y4 F# x8 E. H
into food upon which we are soon to feed,
4 s" C. B1 k6 g; }we thank you for life and we want to stay well, ) z# V) W- S6 l& y+ B/ u
so we promise to rub our hands with Purell.5 K6 f2 {& ?; ]/ L7 l7 R
We who came first and are ready to dine2 S/ j1 G1 Q6 u
thank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
1 M/ ~* X% ~! d- g( W* j- abut for those who are hungry and eagerly wait,
: W) o0 S0 v3 f1 O, e9 t3 Wwe shall not be greedy and heap up our plate.
4 S/ k2 `1 O) oInstead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others U6 u3 |4 D( c) ^5 Z6 X
the way we were taught by our own loving mothers.

We smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted 2 G9 g+ s: k1 \ J X
the aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted
